Scouted a new public land area this spring.
Moderate deer sign. Lots of trash leaving, short ladderstand building, target practice shooting hunter sign.
Also more ticks than I have ever encountered in any woods.
Literally had to stop every 5 to 10 minutes and pick several off each time.
Made me wonder if a place could be so infested with ticks, what kind of deer indicator could that be.
So many ticks means lot's of deer?
So many ticks deer stay away?
Ticks don't make a difference one way or another?

Deer are the primary (although not only) vector of ticks. Lots of ticks suggests a considerable deer population.

To be sure they are everywhere. But in my 30 years of hunting and scouting the hunting woods I have never been so overwhelmed as I was in this area.

What part of TN? - Shelby County doctors have warned that this is the worst tick infestation they've seen in years.

I am one of those folks that has always been naturally tick-repelling. When other people get covered, I never have any.

This year alone, I've had at least 6 embedded and caught several more before they did so. My entire family has seen a ton of ticks this year.

It is one of the worst years I've ever seen in this part of the state.

From what I'm hearing, this is a terrible year for ticks.

I just pulled a tick off off my 5 year olds ball sack this morning and we live in a neighborhood! It may have got on him while he was fishing at my parents eventhough they also live in a well manicured neighborhood, they do have a half acre of trees beside their house. It sure shocked me to see it!
