Mainly talked about the decline county wide, statewide and other states. Discussed zones for turkey seasons habitat management. They have joined a 15 state program that the university of Georgia is studying, all with massive declines.

Gave us all survey forms because they seem very intrigued about the turkeys being obsolete South of 64 highway.

Yes, there were a couple biologists there, the state vet and another from USDA, and some one from Geogia too. The harvests have really dropped off in all three counties since the 2006 implementation of the 4 bird limit. Why after 7 years of falling harvests that have not knocked the limit down some I do not know. They really do not have a clue and are asking us all to help with brood surveys this year. Also are going to set up locations of check stations in all three counties and man them so they can monitor the birds coming in from North and South of 64. They realize there is a huge problem and know that something has happened south of 64, but do not know. The biologist seemed pretty concerned with everyone talking about having 300 bird winter flocks and now having none on their places which was the major complaint I think.

Thanks Yekrut I didn't want to get lengthy as I am posting from my phone, yes they are very concerned and they are dead set on fixing the problem. The way the main speaker talked they are working on turkey season based on these 3 counties. I dont think they had a clue about the 64 highway deal until they started mingling with thecrowd and I think that was a big eye opener for them. I think we will see the state zoned spring after next. They asked our opinions and were very willing to listen. They want our help, resources and manpower as well.

And for those that care I think the hunters got their point across about the horse riders at laurel hill.

And remember Yekrut, the Jakes were better because they breed more \:D

Yes but according to them it was very unlikely the cause, but still a possibility. almost everything was discussed from chicken litter to armadillos to eagles

Well, some seemed to think there wasn't a problem. Glad to see its being addressed. As it progresses, many will see its more statewide than many realize.I made a statement a while back that we would see some changes, I had already gotten word that TWRA was aware of some problems. Thanks to you guys for representing us.
