Maybe some type of carbon face mask\netting would be a good idea.

Call me a cynic, but what a load of crap. The absolute BEST marketing tactic ever used to sell product is the TV deer porn industry. It is simply amazing how much crap is absorbed by viewers that is mostly expensive and of little real value.
"Common sense", as one poster put it, is probably the best approach to scent control.
I can't speak much to hunting deer on private land where pressure MIGHT be low. But I can say much about hunting very wary and hunter shy deer on public land. I feel that these deer are the toughest at getting close to year after year.
Over the past 3 decades, I have been to "deer school". I plan on going back again this Fall. Many times my instructors (deer) left me alone in our classroom. But over 200 times, I took one or more "teachers" for a ride in my truck at the end of class.
And the shots taken at these deer were close. The average bow shot is 19 yards in 216 kills.
I do not wear carbon suits but I do wear odor containing and waterproof rubber boots. I have worn leather and tennis shoes and been successful but only when I hunted that stand for the first time. I keep my clothes washed in odorless detergent (All free and clear) and stored in a clean plastic tote.
But mostly I play the wind and am very careful to try not to touch anything while scouting or traveling to and from my stand.
Another thing I do that I know makes a difference, I keep noise, especially talking, down to practically ZERO. Deer may see you, or smell you, but they CAN hear you for a LONG way off if you are noisy. And old smart deer usually pay attention.

Lot of common sense there. The carbon suits I wear are very good quality and do a lot to reduce noise. When I look at clothes I first run my rough hand cross them, if they make noise I move on. The SL I use is almost silent. No velco either, not even my release. Most of my outer wear never sees the light of day till I hit the woods and then back in the dark when I leave the woods before getting in the truck. Common sense is often why some claim scent control doesn't work. The second they start they begin to defeat the attempt starting with the towel they use to dry off getting out of the shower.
