Welcome to tennessee.

First, all elk tags are draw only and the only place you can hunt elk is the north Cumberland WMA north of knoxville. The time to put in is coming up next month.

There is some good deer and turkey hunting around Kingsport, but very little public land, and finding a lease can be difficult. You can find some cheap leases, but they usually have too many people and too few deer. Plan on spending $500 or so for a good one, and plan on going west. I haven't heard of many leases available up your way, but I haven't been looking very hard either. Good luck, and familiarize yourself with our public land. You can find good hunting on public land if you put in the leg work.

All of the elk hunting in TN is done by permit only and is restricted to the North Cumberland WMA. Last year there were six tags issued.

Last year I hunted a 7 acre plot. I ended up talking to the landowner next to that property to retrieve and ended up getting to hunt his 30 acres last year, till he sold it.

Thats the major problem in TN with hunting small parcels, retrieval. In WI you need to attempt to contact the owner, but if you cannot, you have the right to retrieval. You can go track the game, you cannot carry a weapon and if there is a dispute you better be able to prove to the DNR the animal was actually shot on your property.

If you mean minimum acreage for hunting by law - that is not a regulated aspect of hunting in this state. If it's your land and you are within the open season, you are allowed to hunt.

Welcome to TN. Apply for fort cambell wma, LBL wma, Oak Ridge wma, and catoosa wma. They are great public hunts that you can hunt for free if you get drawn. They off a chance at some goo deer. Presidents island in west tn, is something worth waiting to get drawn for. It is the best hunt Tennessee has to offer.
