I heard on a Jackson radio station this morning that TWRA is reporting that wild turkey numbers remain stable across the state as reflected by another spring harvest of over 30,000 birds. Evidently they are not looking at individual county harvest numbers that are declining each year. Wake up BOYS & GIRLS!!!

I will comment, but not going to debate and argue like I did on some of the other threads concerning this.

Stable as a state in whole meaning we harvest 30,000 +- birds each year then they are right. If stable means the southern most counties going down significantly each year since 2007 then they are incorrect on what I would think stable means.

I still think it goes in cycles and deviates up and down for many different factors, and they have real biologist working for them so maybe that is their reasoning. I don't know, surely they will not let these wild turkeys go extinct if they could help it. I trust in them.

Thanks for the info CAMARO12

I agree, I had a better year than normal but everybody I've talked too said they saw less numbers than they ever have

similar case here, hunting for me was great this year, but others in this forum not so much luck.

Imagine that! Who cares what the potential is! As long as we are above 30000 birds every year we are A OK!

That's ok. We are already planning our Maury County hunts next year. See yall there!

I guess the days of hearing 15 gobblers a morning are long gone! Those were the good ole days.

Glad to hear numbers are stable...I was starting to worry a bit. ;\)

Years ago, a friend called me at home wondering how I was enjoying the gorgeous spring weather. I told him, it's rained the last 2 days straight and it's absolutely pouring buckets outside right this very minute. He says, "No it's not...I'm looking at the Weather Channel and the radar says it's sunny and clear at your house."
