This video is fascinating and kind of eerie. It supposedly depicts every nuclear detonation in the world starting with the first US nuclear test in 1945 and going all the way through 1998. The video condenses 53 years down into 15 min. It is interesting to see when the USSR, then Great Britain, then France, then China, then India and then Pakistan followed the US in becoming nuclear powers. Certain years during the Cold War, like 1958 and 1962, had a ridiculous number of nuclear detonations. Seeing how many were detonated in the deserts of the Western US makes me wonder how anything can live out there. Also, the Pacific Ocean got the heck nuked out of it. Think about how much time, man-hrs and money were poured into the nuclear arms race over the course of five decades. Pretty crazy when you think about it.
