Bass would be the easiest but it would be fun to do different kinds of tournaments throughout the year, crappie, catfish, honestly a trash fish tourney like biggest drum, Gar, Carp, Grennal, Etc. would be different and be really fun and interesting.

It seems like we have enough members that fish that we could possibly have a tournament series. 3 divisions. East, Middle, and West. Just a thought.

If I still had my boat I would host an Eastern Division on Chickamauga. Since I am fishing mercenary this year I have to wait until I buy another boat. Unless I can talk Ratman into running it with me then I can do it.

Would you rather have 3 or 5 fish Bass TX?

Maybe a biggest "Non Bass" fish pool. (Everybody kicks in $5 for this, biggest by weight wins)

What kind of entry fees are you looking at?

How many Anglers do you want to allow in the boat?

I have already gave you the invite. Just waiting on you. Right now the river is hot if you're up for a little wading or bank fishing. The water may be a little cold but that makes it more fun... That is unless you're not man enough and have to use waders. If you're not up for that we can hit Douglas up.

I've caught a couple smallmouth over 20 inches on the river in the last 2 weeks. I would guess about 1 more week and it's gonna get a little slower but still fun.

I just got a commitment from Ratman to help me with the East Tennessee Tndeer.com Tournaments on either Watts Bar or Chickamauga.

Just for general rules:

Do you prefer a 3 fish or a 5 fish limit?

4 hour, 6 hour or 8 hour Tournament?

Entry fee per boat? $25, $50 or what?

I think a 3 fish limit would be better and let kids under 10 fish with 2 adults in the same boat that way it gets the kids involved.Plus it will help get me back in the house because my little guy would be pi$$$$ed if he gets left out.I'm good with $25 a boat plus $5 for big fish and 3 fish limit

I think it should be at least one tndeer.com member per boat with a post minimum of say 25 posts. Stops people from making one post and saying "hey I am a member".

I am waiting on Ratman's schedule of availability right now. He has a job that moves him around quite a bit. I would assume most people would like a safe light to 1:PM or perhaps an evening time slot 5:PM to 11:PM. To stay out of the heat of the day and out of the pleasure boaters path.

3 fish limit.

$25 entry fee ($5 toward big fish)

1 place paid per 9 boats entered.

AT LEAST 1 person in boat must be a Tndeer.com member with at least 25 posts. (two per boat limit with one exception: See Below)

Must follow all TWRA rules.

15" Green
18" Brown

No Dead Fish or Short fish allowed.

Grasshopper Creek Boat Ramp or perhaps at the Watts Bar Dam boat Ramp. Just depends on where the majority want to have it.

To promote youth involvement a 3rd person may be in boat but must be 10 years or under.

Tophat is leading that division. I just pm'ed him to let him know that we have a general plan in place in the South East Tennessee Region. The West will be vary a little on format and time frames.

Still Looking for a coordinator/tournament director of other regions of the state.

South East TN........Kirk
Middle TN............Need a volunteer
NW Tennesse..........Need a volunteer
West Tennessee.......Tophat.

Anyone that volunteers will need access to scales and some way to measure fish. I can email you basic rules and ideas to get it the tournament off the ground.

It is up to the region directors.

I like 3 fish limits in tx's for two reasons.

1. It helps level the playing field a little more for the less experienced tournament anglers. 3 quality bass is hard enough to catch, 5 quality bass is really hard for the inexperienced angler to bring back to the scales.

2. In hot weather it easier to keep fish alive with a 3 fish limit. It reduces delayed mortality by 30% or better.

No.

TX is an abbreviation for Tournament.

I see one problem with a required post count. We have members that have been here for years but only enjoy reading and don't post. It would seem more fair to have a date of joining that was before the tourney was set up. Just a thought.

Sounds like good areas to hold a tournament or two.

You will have to help me though, never fished in a tournament, much less helped organize one. \:D

If we can get a couple of tournaments in each region SE TN, NE TN, NW TN, Middle and West Tn, we could have a pretty good league going.

Two tournaments each division this summer followed a real big one at a centrally located lake in the Fall. What do you anglers think?

Nickel point on lake Barkley at the north end of LBL would be a good place to have one just a few seconds to the cut through to Kentucky lake.Get to fish which lake you like best.jmo

The winners will be determined by the team's total weight. The limit shall be 5 fish per team. If more than 5 fish are brought to the scales, the largest fish will be culled. Fish will be measured on a flat (golden rule) measuring device with mouth closed and by moving tail side to side. Largemouth Bass must be at least 15 inches long, smallmouth bass must be at least 15 inches long, and Kentucky bass must measure at least 12 inches. There will be a 1 pound penalty assessed for short fish and the short fish removed from the creel. . There will be an 8-ounce penalty deduction for each dead fish. The 8-ounce dead fish penalty will also apply to the big bass competition. Only one big bass prize awarded per team. All fish must be caught between the announced start and finish time in the permitted fishing locations by the partners of each boat. Fish caught by either partner in each boat will be combined for weigh-in. Individual boat totals will determine the order of finish. A maximum of two people may be in each boat. No individual who is not an official entrant in the tournament may be in any boat. Livewell check prior to the tournament is required. All boats must check in both before and after the tournament. For each minute competitors are late checking in, a 1 pound penalty will be deducted from the catch of that boat. Any boat more than fifteen (15) minutes late will be disqualified. NO EXCUSES. The Tournament Rules Committee will keep official time. Just a base line to go by and change what ever you don't like.jmo

It's gonna take a couple of years to really get this up and going. But some good planing set dates and locations the members will have time to get more prepared for it.It takes a lot of planning and hard work to get something like this to work.

Tophat will have to answer that question since it is his show in West TN.

I don't know about Kentucky Lake but Small Mouths are 18" minimum around here on Chickamauga.
