Anyone on here ever had a gun Black Iced? Thinking about having a couple done but trying to get some feedback on it's durability first. I don't want something that's going to be prone to chipping or excessive wear.

Hopefully he'll chime in soon.

I sent my Remington ADL .270 to Lee at Black Ice Coatings (Utah) last year and it turned out awesome. The finish is very smooth, yet flat and durable, and the action is smooth as silk. To say I was very impressed would be an understatement. Turn around time was about six weeks and I think I spent $225 total ($175 for gun coating and $25 for shipping and insurance both ways).

That was the company I was looking at Andy. Do you have any pics of your finished gun?

I am not sure how much detail you can see in the pics, but I snapped these in an effort to show you the finished product. This gun was purchased in 1989 and I hunted with it in the rain, snow and whatever else mother nature threw at me. I was also a teenager at the time and did not take the best of care of it. I did not abuse the gun, but it definitely had some surface rust and pretty noticeable blemishes in the original bluing and stock that came on it. Like I said earlier, I really like how this gun turned out. I would recommend Lee to anyone and I will use him again if I come across a project where I can.

It's been a few years since I purchased the stock, but I am 99% certain it is a Bell & Carlson Carbelite 1 Piece Stock in Black with Gray Spiderweb finish.
