Turns out a black bear was found in Lakeland, which is a Memphis suburb. Ocassionally we get a black bear in West TN, and they end up being relocated.

http://wreg.com/2013/05/08/bear-spotted-in-lakeland/

"Currently bears are only spotted in Memphis every two or three years. The population of bears is expanding though, which means over time, bear sightings may become more common in West Tennessee too.

'The growth of the bear population we think is a good thing. Because itís a species that we used to have in West Tennessee, and it looks like it may be coming back,' Harden said."

So when is West TN getting a bear season? \:D

Not a cougar, a black panther.

That would be my guess, but if it isn't tagged there is no way to know for sure.

Alan P. showed us the picture yesterday during a staff meeting. It probably was a picture of a bear, but the picture is grainy and I wasn't 100% convinced.

the picture I saw on TV appeared to be a large dog to me, the stomach area was more similar to a dog instead of a bear

I lived in that area a short while less than two years ago and they had a bear that was in Lakeland. It was captured and relocated.

Lol.
That was my first thought. Some way, somehow, Tiretool is involved.
