Heck this was an option where I last worked, we could as employees earned extra PTO and the end of every quarter what we didn't use came in a check. It was kept in a seperate column on our paperless check stubs from the normal vacation time. I loved the option.

BINGO! And, that is exactly where this thread should have started and ended.

Don't like your employment situation ??..... LEAVE and go somewhere else. The employer will suffer and have to change their ways to attract and keep good workers.

If you are a sucky employee and not worth much, then its on you to improve your worth. Work harder, learn more skills, ask for additional training. Then you will be too valuable to loose and the employer will OFFER goodies to keep you there.

"...give employees who work more than 40 hours a week the option of taking paid time off instead of overtime pay. "

"The choice already exists in the public sector. Federal and state workers can save earned time off and use it weeks or even months later to attend a parent-teacher conference, care for an elderly parent or deal with home repairs."

I'd actually take the time off if it were me.
Others would take the money, big deal.

Very misleading but nice try.
Is this really the biggest issue facing the country that Dems are worried about?

Still nobody has answered the question....1 1/2 hours off for each overtime hour over 40 or just 1 for 1 ?

For me it was 1 hour O/T could be traded for 1 1/2 pay or 1 hour of PTO. In the winter and spring I took the cash in the summer and fall I took the PTO. It was a great system in my opinion. I really do miss it here with the new job in TN.

For me, if I take the comp time, it is 1:1, if I get paid, it is 1.5:1. That is Time:hour and Paid hours:hour.

This would have worked out to a big mess where I spent 30+ years. If someone took comp time that would mean someone else would have to cover the job. We didn't have sick or personal days and just to cover all the jobs if someone was on vacation was a headache to figure out at times.
I can see it being to the companys avantage saving $$ if one took comp at a 1 to 1 payment in some cases but not all jobs would it work out.

Make a choice and live with it. That would be the easiest question posed to me in thirty years.
