While I agree that could help, it is not "the" answer.
The best solution is to simply keep them from crossing our borders in the first place.

And by the way, it is already illegal to hire an illegal, and there are already HUGE fines for doing so. What we DO NOT need is more laws to disrespect or selectively enforce. What we DO NEED is a basic respect for the rule of law: That has been the glue that has held our civil society together and help create a society uniquely better in America.

But it's all going to come un-glued if all we do is add more laws that are not respected by anyone, particularly the people we entrust most to uphold them, i.e. our government.

Stop'em from crossing in the first place.... sad to say it like that, but this is a soverign country with borders still that should be guarded like any other, if only for the safety and well-being of the citizens. \:\/

Doesn't increasing cheap labor run counter to what union members are paying their union leaders to represent (i.e. higher wages for union members)??? Especially with the prospects of millions of illegals being granted amnesty, won't these new "citizens" be taking many of the union jobs???

It's simple. The union leaders see the prospects of millions of potential new union members to replenish their coffers with union dues and vote for union-friendly political candidates, thereby restoring some of the clout labor has lost over the last two decades.

Or to put it another way, if you can't beat 'em, have 'em join you.

I can see how this "helps" the union bosses, but how does it help the current American citizens who are rank-and-file union members?

Can anyone tell me how adding another $6.3 TRILLION dollars to the American taxpayers' debt is somehow "good" for America?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/...ization-at-63t/

The comprehensive immigration overhaul being taken up in the Senate this week could cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion if 11 million illegal immigrants are granted legal status, according to a long-awaited estimate by the conservative Heritage Foundation.

The cost would arise from illegal immigrants tapping into the government's vast network of benefits and services, many of which are currently unavailable to them. This includes everything from standard benefits like Social Security and Medicare to dozens of welfare programs ranging from housing assistance to food stamps.

This was just the projected debt created by granting 11 million illegals amnesty. I believe this number will rise faster than the cost of ObamaCare.

Perhaps the added weight will cause Atlas to shrug.

It doesn't, but that's way down near the bottom of the union bosses' list of priorities.

Any pathway to citizenship must start outside of our borders. Simple.
