Im going to be calling our regional office to attempt that in the morning when the offices open up. I figured I would get a big NO. If I can get a permit, I know it will still be difficult to actually find the bear without dogs anyway.

I think Region III has at least one bear trap. That may be an option as well.

I would definitely prefer that over having to kill it when not in a legitimate hunt if that makes sense.

Snare that sucker with an Aldrich snare and have TWRA come get him.

I would be fuming! You might want to fence off a small orchard with some 8ft fence for your personal consumption. I personally hope those bears never make it to Middle TN.

I would have traps out for that sucker as quick as possible. I got a depredation from Region 2 and it was very easy. I had it in about 2 hours from when I called to report wildlife damage.

yep, I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago I only lost about 4 trees. For me, I have found that if I put barbed wire around 3 t-posts fencing in the tree so far the Bears have left them alone. Of course if the bear wanted to he can get to them but so far it seems to be enough of a deterrent to stop it. On the flip side, you can't protect every tree so this is not a cost-effective way of doing business. I guess a permit would be the way I'd go since you're actually seeing them during daytime hours. Rarely do I get daytime photos of my bears.

Sorry I should have specified - no fortunately it wasn't for bear. it was for turkey. I have had a flock of about 150 turkey raid my aunts horse barn daily getting in stalls with horses eating the feed and it was getting out of control. TWRA showed up, looked at the problem and handed me a permit on the spot.
