I just recently started trying out an Alabama rig within the ast couple weeks and since saw about 10 different ways to tie it up.

Me I use 3 swim baits on jig heads and run blades on the rest. Haven't settled yet on size of bait/hook or if I like running the blades or dummy swim baits.

Any advice?

It is used mainly when the fish are on a deeper pattern. You got to be sporadic in your reel.Slow with a fast pulse.

I've seen it used and seen it work from 2 foot of water right on out to 30 or more.

I don't throw it but my tourney partner does. I tossed it around a few times but decided it's not for me.

From what I've seen... Of course you have to be on fish... But other than that throw it and try to fish it at the depth the fish are holding at.

If you can find a 7 wire rig theres a trick around that.

take 2 of the shorter wires and cut off all the hardware at the end then bend them straight down below the head of the rig.

It gives it more front surface so get it around rocks/timber

works for me

Yeah im back and forth with it myself. My dad has had a lot of success in his tournaments with them.

From what I see he only throws it when he is seeing a lot of bait fish

I fish the Mann's A-Rig loaded with Big Bite bait company swimbaits the 4" on all the outside arms with a 5" in the center and I will take some soft plastic dye and add a little red to the center bait. I vary the jig-head weight to depth I want to fish. If I'm in Tennessee I will replace 2 of the smaller baits with willow leaf spinners.

I generally just fish drop-offs, shellbeds, and other open water structure with it. My experience with the A-rig is if you locate fish with a 5xd or 6xd crankbait and they are eating it swith to the A-rig and load the boat.

Very versatile in water depth and bait choices on the A-rig. I use weighted swim bait heads depending on depth, as to how big with 1/4 oz each covering most everything, as weight is not a problem with this big rig and getting it down there! When fishing it shallow I use 'Showboats' featherlight swimbait hooks, which still have the minnow head and screw on baitholder but they have no weight in the head!

Club head is correct. But i love to throw it in shallow pockets and creeks, if you hang it up in shallow water, you can usually troll over and get it back. The pulse makes the fish bite it. We fish tims ford a lot and the hybrids and rockfish love them.
