Can't get a big a big boat to the upper end of the river when the rockfish move up high. Figured this is my best option since there is a lot of rapids and a "angling" kayak is just not ideal for that water. I've always just waded, now I can cover some water! \:\)

Do those things cut through the water enough that paddling/rowing always gets the job done, or do you ever outfit them with small trolling motors? I'd imagine the battery weight would be pretty annoying/prohibitive, but I was always curious.

Looks like fun!

They appear to do pretty good. I have zero experience in one, just watched a ton of YouTube videos. I've seen plenty with trolling motors and even small outboards. Mine will only be used for a one way trip down stream.

I had one until I got my flatbottom, really liked it. I had a 18# thrust trolling motor on it and it was not too bad, just did not track real straight. I could go faster & straighter paddling. They are fun.

Dbllunger, I have some concerns about that! Lol. I tried it in a canoe and that does NOT work. Gonna give this a try and see what happens.

Good looking boat.

When are we going? I'm always looking for an excuse to use my toon. In addition, the big brown truck should be showing up at my office with a new 9 weight about mid-week. You will find me at Childers Creek before the water comes on. I'll be the only guy standing in a trout river throwing rope flies for gar.

One thing you'll want to do is to weld/reinforce the welds in the frame. A buddy broke a weld in the HI and had to beach it early. Another buddy, using what is now my boat, had to finish a float on the Caney with a broken frame and only one oar. You'll put a lot of torque on the frame when you go to paddle against the current to get a snag out.
