He's always loved music. Started out with the piano, then the sax, acoustic guitar and now electric.

...and he plays it all....the.....time..... \:D

Anyhow, despite irritation from time to time, I never get on him - as I think it's his gift. Plus, his favorite artist is Chris Tomlin who I'd never heard of but have found I really like his music and my boy playing it.

Lately on the way home from the saltmine I've been surfing channels and I'd find Chris Tomlin and listen...I heard this one song that I thought was him - but my boy said no it wasn't.

Turns out it was Kristian Stanfill - and this is the song...quite good!

I am attached to a guitar pretty much every minute im not working. My band stays fairly busy playing roadhouses and weddings all over the south almost every weekend this time of year.
Im glad to hear your boy has a hobby that could last him the rest of his life.
Most kids say that say they 'play guitar' are talking about the game Guitar Hero.

Your kid has gone to the dark side. He will never be the same. \:D

Blackbelt's right, this is a hobby that will probably stick with him for the rest of his life. I get cranky if I haven't played my guitar in a few days. Not to mention, it might put a few more dates on his social calendar.

Hope the kid sticks with it! \:\)

Tomlin is one of the best established worship songwriters out there, and deservedly so. Great person to follow as a player.

That is a hobby that is a life long venture.
I started playing when I was 11. Convinced my mom to go buy me a guitar and never looked back. Bought my electric when I was 17 (One of my most prized possessions) Saved for a year to get it. Also have my Mossy Oak acoustic. A passion that stays for life.
It's great to see younger people pick up music instruments, seems like a lot of kids give up to early before they start making progress.
It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.

You might want to encourage him to stay with sax (in addition to other instruments). It could help a lot when it comes to college scholarships. I know it helped me a ton.
