I'm flying to St. Croix at the end of he month for my honeymoon, and in the process of doing so, we have several layovers and decently long flights. I'm going to try to read a book or 2 on the way. I'm planning on picking up a copy of American Sniper by Chris Kyle.

Any other good ones?

I personally like the Carlos Hathcock sniper book better than the Chris Kyle. He was one bad a dude. Solo suicide missions and escaping other snipers with bounties on his head.

If you saw and enjoyed the Longmire TV series on A&E, it was based on books by Craig Johnson. I've bought most of the series for my Ipad and have enjoyed reading them.

Another series that I bet you would enjoy with your Dad's background is the Joe Pickett series by CJ Box. They are about a Wyoming GW and are pretty realistic.

None of those are "heavy" reads, but all are good for passing time.

I have not read this yet, but just picked it up. Its called "Year of The Pig"

Year of the Pig is a personal account of one avid hunter's pursuit of wild pigs in eleven American states. Mark Hainds tied his mission to the Chinese calendar's Year of the Pig in 2007 and journeyed through longleaf forests, cypress swamps, and wiliwili forests in search of his prey. He used a range of weapons--black-powder rifle, bow and arrow, knife, and high-powered rifle--and various methods to stalk his quarry through titi, saw palmetto, privet hedge, and blue palms.

Introduced pig populations have wreaked havoc on ecosystems the world over. Non-native to the Western Hemisphere, pigs originally arrived in the southeast with De Soto's entrada and in the Hawaiian Archipelago on the outriggers of South Pacific islanders. In America feral hogs are considered pests and invaders because of their omnivorous diet and rooting habits that destroy both fragile native species and agricultural cropland.

Mark J. Hainds has held dual positions for 17 years as Research Coordinator for The Longleaf Alliance and as a Research Associate with Auburn University.

The Joe Pickett books have sadly gone down hill in the last two books. However, you might like the early ones.
