Lyman 2500 Pro Magnum and corn cob media. If I was starting from new I would buy a Thumblers Tumbler rotary and use stainless media.
Nothing wrong with the one I got now but I've seen the other in action, and like it.

^ that I believe.. I know mine is a lyman it has 2 bowls which is useful becuase I use the small one since I dont reload a lot in one sitting.

It works well for me!

if you want to shell out a bunch of money check out stainless tumbling media.. that will make even the oldest rustiest brass look brand new.. plus it cleans the primer pockets which is nice

Got a cheap one from SG, using cc media, and, pistacchio hulls. Works fine for my application. I have so many pistacchio addicts here at work, I am overwhelmed with the hulls, so I put them to good use now. ;\)

I use ceramic in my RCBS vibrating tumbler, I can do 100 rds of .40-65 that are real nasty from using black powder, they come out shiny as new including the primer pocket

the ceramic can not be used with bottleneck cases as the media will work itself inside and lodge up creating a nightmare.

I have heard great reviews about the stainless from the guys out west

I have a lyman 1200. Using corn cob media. Does a great job. As others have stated the stainless tumblers do great. But for my application I'm not sure it's worth the extra money.

All of the above is good advice. I now have a stainless and it is great, but all the above is good also

Thumler Tumbler and stainless pin media. Aside from the awesome cleaning I really like how quiet it runs.

While I agree walnut does a real good job of shining the cases, it always left a dust inside the cases. I don't know if it hurt anything I just didn't like it.

I totally agree. I'm not sure if hurts anything I just didn't like the red dust all over my brass I switched to corn cob but I'm looking to get a stainless tumbler

If the dust bothers you try throwing some dryer sheets in the tumbler. Every time I change my media I run a few dryer sheets through it before ever putting in the brass.

^^ this. I have the woman save the dryer sheets and pull them into strips. It helps with the dust issue

I have a lyman 2400 and a smart reloader just for 223. I am wishing and hoping the 2400 dies really soon so I can justify a stainless steel setup.

If you use walnut media you must remember to clean your FL sizing die. The red dust builds up and you will scratch the brass. I wiped out more 243 cases than I want to admit.

Also, start laying aside some coin for a sonic cleaner. I initially used it for brass but the real value is in cleaning your trigger assembly, bolt, dies, Wife's jewelry, messy knives, you name it. Citric acid and teaspoon of dawn is the key.

Never heard of doing that, but I have already solved the problem by going corncob then to stainless. Thinks for the idea if I ever try it again.

Is there any media that can clean the primer pockets in a normal tumbler (for bottle neck cases)? that sure would be nice!

Stainless will for sure, I don't know of any other.

I've tried walnut, corncob, dog bedding stuff, pistachio hulls, nothing cleans the primer pocket like stainless. Now, a Sonic cleaner does a bang up job on cleaning inside and out but the cases are dull. Stainless will cause you to break out the shades indoors. If you buy once fired 223/308 you really need th stainless setup. Sonic works, just adds steps.

More tumbler dust-reduction tricks: Paper towel strips, orange peels, dryer sheets (dollar store stuff works good) and of course, keep the lid on tight.
