Local law enforcement has also said they won't be enforcing these restrictions as well. I'm not sure the COE has the ability to enforce. The COE said yesterday via press release that physical barriers would not be placed but a marker buoy and sinage would be posted.

The Corps apparently sent out a news release yesterday where they said they were coordinating with TWRA on enforcement of the closures. Nothing could be further from the truth.

TWRA has repeatedly told them that the agency will have no part in enforcing regulations that the agency has opposed from the very beginning.

So who would that leave to enforce? US Coast Guard? I'm particularly concerned about Cheatham Dam since thats my normal place to go. I have seen the Coast Guard there on occasion, not sure if there was a particular reason or normal patrol. I haven't been there all year but hate to think I couldn't go right up to the dam like I have for years.

I think the only function of the Coast Guard in rivers like the Tennessee and Cumberland is to maintain navigation. I lived next to a guy one summer who was in the Coast Guard. Once a month, they would travel up and down the Cumberland River making sure all the channel markers were maintained. I don't think the coast guard gets into enforcing boating regulations.

I think the only ones enforcing this would be the Corps of Engineers. I don't know about now, but I know in the past they have had officers in the field.

is it barricaded? Haven't been there since last summer. If nobody is enforcing it and it's not blocked then drive your boat up and catch skipjack.
