I planted some clover mid march mixed with chicory, I seeing just a few sprouts but not many. It's my first plot. How long does it usually take to come up?

Unless we have a good rain filled Summer, it may be next Spring before you see a great stand of clover. You will see a good flush of growth about October too though. I always try to recommend Fall for establishing a new clover plot and frost seeding to fill in bare or weak areas. Perennial clovers can take awhile to really get going.

Mr. Hawk,
What kind of clover? Our summers can be pretty hard on spring-planted clovers.

Durana. Should I expect to see some clover this spring?

Durana is all I plant anymore; it really is a super option. Once you get it established I think you'll be pleased.

You'll really have to keep your fingers crossed if you planted this spring though, and are probably not going to see a whole lot of top-growth initially (as the root structure gets established). It can do ok if we get enough rain but your biggest concern might be competition from grasses and broadleafs that thrive in the summer. Fight them as best you can to give your clover a chance, but it can be a challenge.

I only plant in the fall with a winter wheat nurse crop and have had great success with it.

Planted my first plot this past fall in Durana and rye. It is just now really starting to look good. Took all fall and winter to get established. You should at least see the new sprouts within a few weeks I would think or you got some other issue. Did you cover the seed? I also frost seeded some red clover this past feb to fill in the gaps.
