Hodgdon, Nosler, Barnes do NOT list a load for that powder and the 308 shooting 168 grain anything. That would rule it out for me. Aside from a description that says it is useful for heavy magnums I cannot find a load for this powder anywhere.

Yep, IMR4895 is a solid load for the 308. Here is that load info right from Hodgdon

168 GR. BAR TTSX BT IMR IMR 4895 .308" 2.800" 41.0 2514 47,400 PSI 44.0C 2692 57,800 PSI

41 grains starting point,, 44 grains max and that is a compressed load.

IMR 4759 is not a powder for the 308. Do not under-load it.

SR-4759 is a great powder for reduced loads. My daughters and I have shot plenty of it in a 7mm-08.

Looks like 23-25 grains with a 168 in the 308. 1900 fps +/-

Google is your friend.

Sorry EWC, I would never recommend reduced loads. Reduced loads can and do lead directly to double charges and big hospital bills. That's if you are lucky. JMO

No offense Dave.

Your opinion is yours. You concluded that there is no data. You are wrong. A quick Google search and a look-se thru my load books provided loads for 4759 and .308.

IMR, Hogdon, Speer, etc. all recommend SR-4759 for REDUCED loads.

I have developed/shot plenty of reduced loads and my daughters have also. Reduced loads are safe and a great option for younger, healing, or older hunters.

If you think that reduced loads lead to double charges, then ALL loads lead to double charges. Weigh out 25 grains. Don't weigh 50 grains?

I will conclude by re-iterating that your opinion is yours, but you are incorrect with your facts.

Good luck and have a great day tomorrow-

Judd

I have shot a bunch of 223 with very little Blue Dot and the 69 SMK for 1050 fps,,very fun to shoot,,

I like Trail Boss for 308 reduced loads if that is what we are talking about,,

No problem ewc, no offense taken. I just don't like reduced loads for safety reasons. I know there are lots of folks use them a plinking and range loads. For those kinds of uses, I load lead and follow the books on those loads.
