I reload almost everything, but when I do buy boxed ammo I try to find Hornady, great stuff. I bought some 450 Marlin to get some brass for reloading and it was accurate.

the Hornady Heavy Magnum or the Federal Supreme with the Sierra bullets is where I would start.
they actually run the speeds they claim.the Rem and Win stuff will work fine but both have very low BC and are slow,,deer wont notice in the field, but to get reload quality factory loads the 2 listed above are as close as I have seen..
not counting the Black Hills and Fed GMM 308 loads.

My Ruger has shot almost all factory ammo very well. If I was shooting factory I would shoot the 150 gr corelok. Cheap and shoots under 1" in my gun.
For hand loads Im shooting the 162gr hornady BTSP. Shoots 1/2" if I can hold that steady. Holds together very well and gives good expansion.

When I had one I used Winchester 150 gr Ballistic Sivertips because my rifle liked them. Honestly you just need to find out what your rifle likes and go from there. Might cost a little money in the beginning but you'll be happier in the long run.
