Went and looked at my clover plot today, and it looked really good in most areas. Full and very thick. There are still a few spots that are not filled in though. Should I scrape the ground and seed these or will they fill in on their own? They are sections 2 or 4 feet circles surrounded by nice thick patches.

If you just mow it at the right time (once it goes to seed) it'll help both reseeding and managing your undesirable grasses.

when is the time to mow clover? What do you look for as far as the bloom goes?

if the plot is over a year old, I'll mow first of June to middle of June. If its a first year plot, wait until late August

You have to know if its not filling in because you missed seeding that area or if its a soil issue of some sort. If you just missed seeding it, then seed it or let your clover go to seed and mow it to spread it or if its a stoloniferous clover it will spread over it eventually. Soil issue, then you must amend whatever the issue is (nutrients, compaction, etc.)

The advice from A.Hall and smstone is spot on. The only other thing I'd add with regard to mowing is to consider when your turkeys are incubating nests and when the fawn drop is in your area. If your grasses are tall, both critters can be impossible to see.

Believe it or not, a hen will sit right there on the nest with a bush hog bearing down and fawns a few days old...well they just don't know any better :|

Good luck...sounds like you have a real good stand.

Here are pictures from yesterday. You can see how thick and where I think I missed seeding.
