lock for what? I don't see any violation. Guy was arrested for nothing illegal, carrying a gun in Texas of all places I thought was celebrated.

http://asp.militarygear.com/2013/04/09/fort-hood-soldier-illegally-disarmed/

Read the whole thing.

People talk about a revolution, I don't put much stock in it because the only way one would work is if part of the military is behind it like our first civil war. Haven't seen or heard of much of a reason to believe our military would split and take up arms against our government till I read the above link.

I still say free men shouldn't have to beg for their RIGHTS.

Your right! This guy wasn't begging, he was defending and doing a good job of it.

People need to know and understand the difference between being polite and giving up your rights.

I was reading something about the profile of serial killers and they mentioned that "politeness or not wanting to offend" is what killed MANY victims.

Example.
A stranger comes to your door and knocks. Do you.
1. Open the door and see what they want?
2. Ask them what they want through a locked door?
3. Tell them to get off your property since they don't have any business being there?

The vast majority of people would answer 1. We have simply been trained to be polite which can be to our detriment.

Citizens should know their rights. More importantly, the police should know those rights AND RESPECT THEM !

Too much of our criminal legal system relies on tricking citizens into giving up their rights, or playing off their ignorance. Trying to take away the man's gun is one example.
Asking "you mind if I take a look in your car" is another.

You make a good point. It can happen anytime anywhere. I just Hope the Good Lord gives me the heads up when I need it. Got a trust in that.

In this guys case he also knew the law. Thing about the law though is it says what the interpreter of the law wants it to say. Hopefully as it goes higher and higher up the judicial ladder someone will see it your way. I'm often amazed at how the system does finally end up on the right side of things. When it doesn't anymore there isn't much left to do but fight. Something needs done to make the wrong pay all the costs.
