I killed this gobbler on Sunday morning.

http://www.tndeer.com/tndeertalk/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3222374&page=1#Post3222374

After a 24 hr marinade, it hit the grill.

All that I can say is wow. Grilled turkey is the filet mignon of poultry IMO. I may have to quit fishing and turkey hunt more. \:\)

I have the other half ready to fry for turkey nuggets. Anybody got any suggestions for a batter? I have been grilling them the last few yrs, but Dad wants me to fry some.

As for frying turkey nuggets:

Deep fry them.

Get a sack or something and put you a couple cups of flour in it.
Add salt and pepper to your taste.
Add a cup of powdered sugar.
Put your nuggets in there and shake them good.
Be careful, you will eat all your turkey and make yourself sick from eating too much.
Pm SMH a thank you, it was his recipe.

You're welcome.

Oh yeah!

We fried up some turkey thigh meat a few days ago. Was real good.

Now I have a buddy who told me today that he likes to make jerky out of his turkey. Got me to wondering if there would be any poultry related risks to that, such as salmonella. I doubt it, but wasn't sure.

Thanks Ruger! That is different, and something that I will have to try.

I use an egg wash to wet my nuggets and then toss them in pancake mix and fry 'em. Yum Yum!

That grilled turkey looks great!

As for the fried, how big do you cut up the chunks?

Grilled was great. Had left overs tonight. For the fried, I cut them in average size chunks, not too big but not too small.

Thanks Ruger! That was a good idea. The only change is that we marinated in Italian dressing. We had about 60 nuggets, and they didn't last too long. Will definitely be trying again.

That is what I did with the first batch. I have been doing that for the past several years. I was just looking for a good batter to deep fry and try something a little different.
