No time to let your guard down. This isn't over by a long shot. For now though, I consider the donation I made to the NRA a couple of months ago to have been money very well spent.

They both voted against, after having both voted for getting it to a full Senate vote.

Both are flip-flopping RINO Progressives that need to be voted OUT at the very next opportunity.

Amen to that brother.

We can NOT let our guard down, can NOT compromise, can NOT let them win even the smallest victory.

It's not about gun control.

It's people control they're after.

My neighbor, who I've never known to be pro or anti-gun, was telling about something he saw on the news about a drum magazine that held 250 rounds.

He said, "I don't see why anyone would need a 250 round magazine to hunt."

I explained that the words "need" and "hunt" are not mentioned in the second ammendment. He'd never thought of it that way and although he was swayed by the news show, I was able to sway him the other way.

In fact, he wants me to go look at guns with him, but I don't think he'll be getting the 250 round mag.

I had a conversation recently where the other person questioned the "need" for a 30 round magazine etc. I told them that they were correct, I don't "need" a 30 round magazine but I also don't "need" a car or a phone or electricity but I can. Obama is setting the scene for the mid term elections.....

I agree, it's NOT over by a long shot. This is going to be a long war.

I send a donation back in Dec and again in Feb to the NRA and I'm sending ANOTHER one in again tomorrow.

I send mine to the NRA-IRA. they are the ones working on the bills.

You just made the prefect example of what's happening.
People are being swayed by the anti-gun people and not enough of us are doing much to help sway them back.

We win this round but in the long run we might lose the war on the Second Amendment unless we keep it up.

This is great defeat. Hopefully it will enlighten some of the 90% they pulled out of the air.

I went one step further a few minutes ago and sent a thank you note to the four Democrats that broke ranks and voted against it. (Sens. Max Baucus of Montana, Mark Begich of Alaska, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Mark Pryor of Arkansas )

I think it is important they know there are people that stand behind their decision. It's a shame their own party is already threatening them "Those Democrats are now the targets of liberal groups vowing to advertise their 'no' votes. In a statement shortly after the defeat, Progressive Change Campaign Committee co-founder Stephanie Taylor slammed the four defectors."

But I was more surprised to learn that John McCain voted for the bill along with 3 other Republicans.

Easy, they poll heavy urban/suburban households in severely liberal cities, in severely liberal states. THEN skew the numbers another 20%.

You and me can poll people and ask if that big yellow thing in the sky is the sun or a giant beach ball and still get 20% undecided.

This is Obama's own words,

"just round one."

If you think for a minute Obama is giving up then you must have been on a trip to Mars and are now coming back.

The War on the Second Amendment has just started with "just round one."

If Mcain voted for it, it is because he has little choice because of the shooting in his home state. He hasn't been in office there since Lincoln's was Pres without being a little bit smart.
On the other hand look at the Dems that voted against it. Even if they truly believe the right decision is to vote for the ither way they can not and hope to get re-elected because their states live off guns as an everyday tool and revenue source....

You would be surprised how many HUNTERS and GUN OWNERS support more gun control laws.

They are all for it as long as it does not touch THEIR guns.

There are several members on here that do this very thing.

I think Alexander and Corker knew it would be defeated, that's why they supported moving the bill to the Senate floor. It wasn't because they wanted to vote for it. Even Harry Reid knew it wouldn't pass. That's why he didn't push for the vote. He knows more about America than dufuss obama does.

McCain was against the so called gun show loophole before the Gabby Giffords shooting. The people in Arizona need to vote him out.

Agreed. And, I think they were trying to show the American people who voted for this bill before the elections, so that hopefully they would be voted out. Four repubs should lose their seats b/c of this vote, if American values prevail in the upcoming elections, as well as several dem's.

For the record, I was against their decision to bring it to the floor in the first place b/c it was an infringement on the 2A from the start, but, maybe there was method in their madness.

This is where the battle has to be fought. Each of us taking the time to talk to individuals to undo the damage the liberal media inflicts on the public. And unfortunately this job is not something that can be finished - it has to be fought continually.

Just another win for the good guys. I took a bunch of heat in January when I posted that much all legislation regarding gun control has ruled in favor of gun owners for the last 2 decades since the Brady Bill related legislation/rulings. I stand by that statement

Despite a few recent knee-jerk state rulings in Colorado, New York and Missouri, gun rights advocates are still on the winning side of this debate, by a large margin.

I don't deny that there is a group of folks that absolutely despise guns and people who own them, but they are a loud very small minority. The Democrats couldn't even get a very watered down version of gun control out of a Senate that they control.

The last 4 months or so of gun control debate has been nothing but media hype and fear mongering. The fight won't ever be over, but I am just as confident as ever that gun rights as we know them today are on solid ground. Stay vigilant and watchful.

Not according to Obama and his minions...it must be a whopping 90% of folks who feel this way.

I said this in another post and got berated and called a libtard, but I'm glad the bill went to a vote. If a filibuster would have occurred it would have been much worse PR for our stance than a vote in our favor.

The fight isn't over. But I sure did like watching Obama cry and Biden look like an idiot. I felt sad for all the props that he used. They got used by Obama and will now be kicked to the curb.

LARGE MARGIN?????

The Senate vote was 54-46.

Does anybody ever understand that??

If was 54 TO PASS THE BILL

46 TO NOT PASS THE BILL.

To pass it needed 60 votes or more.

We were OUTVOTED but still won by 6 votes.

While the NRA, GOA and other groups and hunters/gun owners personally fought the fight others just set and relaxed doing nothing knowing the others would do the fighting and win.

Since when does it matter to this bunch of corrupt thugs what the majority of Americans think? If I remember correctly, most Americans were opposed to the Healthcare law, but didn't stop them from passing it without reading the over 2,000 pages? They even rubbed it in our faces for good measure, by parading arm in arm, and lying about racial slurs and folks spitting on them?

Loved the look on his face he thought this was in the bag.
Where do they come up with this ridiculous no of 90% americans being in favor?

Not sure what polling he is looking at but...

1. Demand “a vote”
2. get said vote
3. realize it’s not the vote you wanted
4. blame the system
5. throw a temper tantrum

A perfectly reasonable response from the President of the United States.

Yup, he took his ball and went home because no one would play the game under his rules. Maybe he needs to except just because it's his ideas don't mean they are good ones.

Far From Over

Pelosi, Biden issue threats after Reid pulls faltering gun ban bill from Senate

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi refuses to give up on her drive to cripple the Constitution.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday said passage of tougher gun controls is “inevitable,” projecting optimism less than 24 hours after the Senate voted down legislation central to President Obama’s strategy to reduce gun violence.

“It’s a matter of time,” Pelosi said Thursday during a press briefing in the Capitol. “It might be inconceivable to the NRA that this might happen; it’s inevitable to us.”

AS Crappie stated in Politicle forum it can be brought back up at anytime.

Now they threaten with Exutive orders. We won a battle not the war

Sending a thank you note to the four democrats who voted against this bill is a great idea! I think we should all do the same and I will attempt to make it easier with the following links

What really made me mad was the fact that Obama said "gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill." At the same time, Obama proceeded to LIE and state "90% of Americans agree with him." I think everyone knows that 90% of the people do not agree with him, and if that was the case, this would have been an easy victory and there would have been no reason for him to travel across the U.S. spending millions of our dollars in an attempt to gain support for his agenda. I am surprised more people have not spoken out about how Obama willfully LIED in his speech to the American people!

Notice how he blatantly says the NRA lied, but how many times has he lied to the public in his speeches and his fellow backers agreeing the whole time? Just recently about the sequestration and how it will affect America.
