Thanks for all the advise guys.Been doing this for a few years but it does get frustrating. Todays corporate world is a lot different then a few years ago at least in my company. You used to count on someone covering your backside but not any longer. HR makes you jump a lot of hoops and there is a lot of extra work involved in getting rid of someone. At least getting rid of them AND having your backside covered when they come after you. For the most part my folks can do a good job. But every once in a while a few get behind and then a few more and then once the crap catches up to them they circle the wagons and its all my fault and I'm playing "favorites". The workforce in Memphis has a lot to be desired. so its a little easier said then done to find quality employees.

Sounds like company got a little slow and had to lay people off. No race card issue there.

My company is all contracted workers with commission only based work (including myself). I don't have these problems... thankfully. At the same time, their earning potential can be really high over time. I have one contractee who is on track to make 3x what I will make this year.

I feel for you man, I lived in Memphis for 40 years, glad I am gone from there. It has gotten a lot tougher in the firing process since back when Uncle Willy became Mayor and hired his ex-con girl friend to help run Memphis. Oh yeah, cant leave out the Ford brothers either, between this bunch running government in Memphis and or having the influence in decisions the way a buisnessman could run his buisness, hire and fire for good reasons has been pushed out of the way.
Memphis went to big for the wrong reasons, only wanted to tax base but didnt want to put back in to help the people that they incorparated, pretty much just said "PAY UP or get out and I will give money to one of my friends so I can make more money and control more"
Guns dont kill people, they only provide a path
Legal gun owners will be punished because the government doesnt know how to keep the criminals from buying them.

if you fire them for a valid reason then they cant draw govt funded welfare/unemployment . lay them off and its couch time with 2 or 3 years of free dough .
