Shrikes are cool. They will impale their meal on a stick, wire or thorn to eat it.

My wife and I were watching a robin in the backyard yesterday and out of what seemed like nowhere, in swoops what I think was a sharp shinned hawk. It appeared to have killed the robin on impact, as it never moved again.

The hawk flew off, dinner in feet.

Canon SX40 HS. Shrike pics about 25-30ft, the others about 15-20.

Just got the SX40. It has the longest zoom of any point and shoot camera. I got tired of carrying my long lenses for long distances so I got this one.
