Not here on Sunday. The one that I killed probably gobbled at least 50 times if not more. I bumped him trying to get set up on him, but he kept gobbling at everything that made a noise. So I went to plan B and put a sneak on him. He should have kept his mouth shut. \:\) I heard another gobbling later in the day when I went fishing.

While I haven't kept count or anything, it sure looks like the number of birds hitting the ground + better gobbling reports have ticked upward this week over last.

This morning they weren't gobbling on the roost however like Ren said, Aggressive calling was get them going pretty good on the plateau. Getting them to break away from the hens is a different story.

I don't care if they gobble or not I just wish I could get to the woods and hunt. Work before play.

Great on the roost and silence after fly down. It's been a trend in a few counties and worse than any year I have hunted. I know we have a late spring but a courtesy gobble has been hard to come by After flydown. Also on a normal opening day from my listening spot on a moungumery co farm I normally hear 300-400 gobbles before flydown( farm is ridiculous but 90% pitch into other properties) this year I heard 20 all weekend.

Middle Tn has been largely the same from the sound of it. Hearing a whole bunch on the roost, but not much if anything at all after fly down. I'm hoping the slow start to the season means they are really going to pick up soon.

I hunted/guided in the areas of Wilson, Sumner, Trousdale, Counties a week ago. UNBELIEVABLE gobbling, strutting, and working in birds for kills.

Back in Hamilton, Sequatchie Counties, exact opposite.

In a dozen hunts, I've heard 2 birds on 2 different mornings.
I did finally call up a Gobbler but a hen took him away before he closed the last 20 yards.

Yesterday morning, a beautiful morn...ZIPPO! Again!

In Sequatchie County I followed and watched a gobbler and 4 hens for about 2 hours as they fed and he bred. He was not red headed, he never gobbled or strutted, and NONE of them paid any attention to my calling.

Surely it will get better. The woods still look like March.

Seems to me like they're just getting fired up. They've been henned up from the start, but now seem to be a little more vocal.

They have not been gobbling much on the roost where I hunt. Latter in the mornimng they are gobbling back when called. They seem to be staying in the woods more also than in past years. The land owner said that he had not been seeing them in the fields this year like he normally does.

Same here, I have heard 3 gobbles all year! Unreal, usually they are hammering and you hear them all day long. I agree, later than normal spring has them messed up.

Same thing here. In Cheatham county they gobble constantly on roost, but when they pitch down, nothing. I'm sleeping in tomorrow morning and just gonna hunt them at 9:30. Getting up at daylight is for the birds (pun intended). \:D
