This is specifically for hunters who have switched from shooting compound bows to crossbows...

What differences have you made to your hunting set up, procedure, performance, or results have you made/seen?

Do you do things differently?
If you can't trust people with freedom, how can you trust them with power ?

I do things basically the same but I can tell you it is much easier to get compound in and out of the woods than an xbow and compound much easier to deal with in a portable stand. Xbow is awkard to handle compared to compound.
One thing I don't do with xbow is shoot regularly. Practice is essential for compounds.
Only reason I switched is because I could no longer bowhunt from treestand with compound. I can sit and shoot the xbow.

Shopson hit it pretty good.
The crossbow is much heavier and very awkward. A ling helps, just a little.
Tough to manuver under deadfalls, etc.
Follow up shots are certainly not as easy. I shot a coyote from my climber this past fall, then reloaded to continue deer hunting. Practice recocking from your stand down low first.
Shooting from a ground blind is easier, don't have to worry about sufficient roof clearance.

Great topic. Great input so far, look forward to more. Of my buddies that have converted from compound to crossbow (some out of necessity, some just because) most absolutely despise them, while I 've got one buddy who is young and healthy and switched to crossbow and he loves it. He is a deer killing machine and would not go back to compound. I bought xbow this year, but I think I will stick with compound mostly for now after shooting xbow around the house. However, there will be times that I will take it...especially cold weather.

Being in my mid-60's, my Excalibur has made a huge difference in the way I shoot. I use a scope and I can see my target better. True, it is a little heavier than my compound was but the difference in accuracy is well worth the additional carry weight. I can also shoot sitting versus standing all the time. With as many motorcycle wrecks as I had back in the day, sitting in my treestand these days means a lot to my banged up knees. Also, once I cock the crossbow, I don't have to worry about 'letting off' incase a deer moves to where I can not get a shot. I'll not go back to a compound. I thank God for my crossbow.
