Good things must come to an end. I'm leaving Tuesday morn to go back to Aurora, Co. No turkey. Got 2 in W TN last year so just averaging out. Saw 26 birds last time out(only saw two hens in 4 times out before) but none close enuf and would not budge to calls, didn't spook or do anything, just kept on feeding. I did get to see two jakes strutting. I firmly believe if I could just get out there in that one field one more time, I'd prob get one, but such is life. Just way too many loose ends today. Did catch some crappie but missed the spawn. Guess I was about 2 wks or more too early for both crappie and turkeys but I shouldn't fuss as weather has been really good in the past. May hit some snow and/or icy roads in W KS and E CO. I'm all ready looking forward to late Sept and archery deer season, maybe I'll get lucky and get a chance at turkey then.

I could hunt turkeys in Co but am really not familiar with areas that do not require drawing for tags. I do put in for one area in extreme E CO but only draw a tag about every 3 to 4 yrs. I have drawn twice there and harvested a bird each time, they have Rio Grandes there.
I stay in Gibson County when I am in TN.
Would have loved to have stayed a few days longer, will be back in late September.
Thanks Ray

How did you not catch any crappie? We have been catching the heck out of the crappie on Reelfoot the last few weeks.
