I hope not too..Not enough, might be a few local pockets, but as a whole,I don't think the population is ready.

They have been doing everything they can to get rid of hound hunters in the state similar to what was done on the left coast with California SB 1221. If they do every open up bear hunting out there you can bet it won't be with hounds. Maybe they will leave them alone for a few years and let them get established.

I'm not sure I understand. Didn't they increase the dogs permitted bear hunts an additional 10-12 days last year?

Trespassing is too & a lot of land owners are tired of it.Not just dog hunters but any body without permission

they are plenty of bear here. sure, if you dont think we have enough for a hunting season then you might need to get out in the woods a little more or at least drive the back roads some. i have already saw 4 this spring and will see many more when my garden comes in. i dont care what kind of season we have, archery, gun, nuke... just let us hunt the aggravating things. even the non hunting people and people that do not like hunting that have moved in here are wanting some kind of control.

They greatly decreased the big game hound hunting opportunities last year. A couple of extra days in the few areas where you can run bear are not equal to all the hunting opportunities that big game houndsmen lost with the criminalization of hog and boar hunting with hounds.

i would say that the population will start decreasing then. people around here are fed up with being aggravated with them. i have heard a lot of talk about farmers and other people just busting the gut on them and letting them run off in the river gorge and stink up the place down there. i myself think it would be better to have a hunting season for them.

Just give the name and address of some of these farmers and other people to scn and you should have a check in the mail shortly. Or better yet, call Don Dare. He'll get a bear season for you.

Even if they had a season it wouldn't help your problems. 3-5 days of still hunting bears wont get 8-10 bears killed maybe. TWRA's survey shows 250 bears in 170,000 acres. Learning to live around Bears is what needs to happen.

I don't get it You want rid of Bears but you don't want to use the most effective way of killing them Sound like you just want permission to shoot one out of your garbage can.

just like hogs, no doubt more can be killed without dogs. these hogs are spreading here because of people dogging them. they are showing up in areas they didnt use to be in after every weekend dog run. as you know, they are not always a bay at the end of a run. do you have a freeze brand on your dogs? if so what is your mark? i saw a bear crossing the road saturday and when i stopped to look at it i heard some dogs running up the trail and waited to see them cross.

No mine aren't branded. I need to though. TWRA will even tell you dogs are the best way to kill bear. I've never ran a bear in fentress county ether. On purpose or accidently
