I've got a Havalon. I got it when Eastman magazine was giving it away with a subscription (which was cheaper than just buying the knife).

It's crazy sharp and I've used it for all sorts of things. It's not something you can use to break open the pelvic bone or anything like that, but it will cut just about anything you touch it too. SHARP. And when it dulls? Just pop in a new blade. Although I have yet to have to do that.

I'm buying a Havalon before next season, myself.

I also got a pretty nifty knife called a "fisherman's friend" from my wife last year on Father's Day, so I'm set up pretty well for my spring/summer/fall fishing conquests.

Very reasonably priced and will skin and cut up anything from small game to deer from my experience.

Never really cared for or needed a gut hook myself.

I agree with Ruger. I have a titanium 110. Will do it all and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

You can't beat a Wyoming knife. Surgical steel blade that is replaceable. Small and easy to use in a deer's cavity when gutting.

I have a schrade with a gut hook and it works fine on small game.
