Hmm. Cry me a river. That guy's points are shallow. I reckon he thinks the five year old deer are smarter where their antlers grow larger. That whole article is what is wrong with deer hunting except for those that make their living from it. It's fun for me and money and egos are going to ruin it from the top, down.

If he has the money to hunt in 3 different non-resident states, he hasn't got a leg to stand on crying about money to me.

What a crock of turds.

"On the other hand, I've seen what that $600 can deliver. To me, the license fee is a small price to pay for what is very likely the best deer hunting experience you can have."

I've seen what my $126 will deliver....the opportunity to march onto state lands and sit in the woods enjoying nature. The possibility of shooting a deer, turkey, squirrel, jackrabbit, dove, quail, duck, goose, or beaver is just a bonus.

Not only that, but wouldn't he also get to write them off on his taxes? Kinda hard to get any sympathy out of me based on his little rant...

You know what's funny? I looked at the writer's bio and its reads:

"Tony's passion is chasing mature whitetails in DIY fashion. Whether on public land across the Midwest or on small pieces of unmanaged private ground in the heavily-hunted state of Michigan -- if there are deer, he'll hunt them. And sometimes he even kills one."

Now has exactly does this philosophy jive with:

"Ohio's $150 tag is a bargain. But what about states that offer tags in the same price range? Aren't they a solid value as well? Not really.

If a state has a marginal whitetail population or features intense hunting pressure and few mature bucks, that $150 tag offers little value to me."

Maybe he should change his bio should read " if there are deer, he'll hunt them. And sometimes he even kills one.... if it is a good value"

Good points Poser. I'd like to know the when and where of the last public land whitetail hunt he took. I'm pretty sure I know the answer.

I kinda read the story in a little different light then the way yall read it. I read it as if your on a limited budget what's the most bang for your "buck". We all know you can kill a trophy in ANY state. But if you had a short window of opportunity would you spend $600 for a lets say 5 day hunt or $150 for the same 5 day hunt and have less of a chance at a "trophy". At least that's the way I read the story. I would hate to hunt or film hunting for a living.

So the professional hunter doesn't like funding state wildlife programs? I guess he feel she's just entitled to hunt there for free since he all "writer" and stuff.
