Is it early for a duck to be hatched out ?

I was fishing at the city lake in Martin yesterday and one of the resident Mallards.... well I guess she was a Mallard, but weird coloring... anyway she had a lone duckling with her.

Thought it was kinda early, but then again I have no clue.

Its not really early for a resident duck. Throw conventional wisdom out the door when comparing a resident duck vs migrator. I've seen mallards and woodducks with little ones so far this year. Saw little woodducks last year the second week of Feb. That was odd.
Just because you do not agree with my opinion, it does'nt make me wrong!

Nope. I saw to different hens with babies on Saturday. One had around 10, and the other had 13
