I am in a somewhat similar position, but from the other side of the fence.

My next-door neighbors in our tightly-spaced subdivision have three sons. They have 4-wheelers, duck calls, goose calls, fireworks, pellet guns, and all the usual things that most boys play with. One is old enough to drive and has a truck with a partially functioning muffler.

I've raised two kids up from infancy within 25 feet of the corner of their house (my youngest is now 2).

The biggest difference in our situation is that we are well within the city limits. That said, I have only asked them to keep the noise down once or twice ever, and that was when they were still shooting fireworks late at night while my kids were trying to go to sleep.

I give them as much latitude as I possibly can, because I think that in general they are just kids that are having fun, and they seem to be pretty good overall. I like the fact that they are learning outdoors pursuits as well.

I just wish that some parents would teach their kids the same kind of consideration that my parents taught me. Things like "just because it is your right doesn't mean that you should exercise it every night at 9 PM when kids are trying to sleep". You know, little things like that.

I'm sure their situation is different, but I just share my experiences in the hopes that people understand (as others have pointed out) that there is another side to the story. If those kids woke my son or daughter up from their nap every single day, I'd be fuming mad too.

No matter what, calling folks names is out of line. Please don't think that I'm defending their behavior. Just perhaps their frustration.

All of these stories support one common truth - subdivisions are awful \:\)

One thing I might add that I thought of on the way home.
As the crow flies, straight line, this "neighbor's" house is right at a quarter of a mile away from my house.

If you drive down the road to this house you will pass 5 houses along the way, not counting the 3 that are RIGHT next door.

Just some fyi that may be of some importance before everyone gets the idea that man is doing doughnuts in front of the butt's house.
