I'm so hard core old country that I think of George Jones and Johnny Cash as newcomers. \:\)

Here are some of my favorites:

Hank Williams
Ernest Tubb
Jim & Jesse
Flatt & Scruggs
Marty Robbins
Cowboy Copas
Johnny Horton
Lefty Frizzell

Haven't heard all of the latest country the metrosexual wannabe cowboys have been singing for the suburban teenyboppers? I'll sum it up for you.

"Ride in my pickup truck and rock your cut off shorts and tank top while I play "County Boy Can Survive" and drink some sort of alcohol until you dance on the tailgate of my truck at a bonfire on a Friday night after working all week."

There, you have it. \:D

Although that "Springsteen" song is kinda catchy. \:\)

For some reason I like the Wagon Wheel song. But that's the only new song I have liked in a long time. My vehicle usually is fully of CDs...most of which I've burned and put whatever I want to on 'em. I grew up on country but country ain't country no more.

quick story. think it was 20 or 21 years ago when I worked in Brentwood I use to eat at this meat and three that was in a doublewide. It was always busy and you just sat a table with anyone else. Sat with this elderly man one day and started talking and all these people would come up to him and congratulate him on this award he won and that he looked great on TV.Turned out I was sitting with Eddie Arnold and he had just got some life time achievement award.sometimes I really miss living in Nashville.

Wow, that is something. When those guys get older and out of the spotlight they of course look different and you just don't expect to actually sit down and eat with them like that so it's no wonder you didn't recognize him. My cousin works in Nashville near some big mall and will tell me often of some big current star he has seen shopping or eating. We (my family when I was a teenager) were at Opryland years ago when the Wabash Cannon Ball roller coaster had just opened. My Father was always a big Roy Acuff fan so he almost couldn't believe his eyes when Roy Acuff himself walked up to check the ride out. We got to talk to him a few minutes and he was very down to earth and friendly.

I like most of today's country and some of the old stuff just not the twangy sound. The latest rap style sucks to be blunt but as stated if something comes on I don't like I pick another station. I predominantly listen to country but like the 70s & 80's rock and roll too. Don't give 2 cents about rap or hip hop.
