I was surprised to see that 3 of the top 5 heaviest turkeys ever recorded by the NWTF were Rio Grande turkeys from Oregon. That is pretty amazing. I wonder what the reasons are for Oregon producing these huge turkeys?

1. Oregon Rio Grande 2002: 37.125 lbs
2. (tie) Iowa Eastern 2001: 35.8125 lbs
2. (tie) Oregon Rio Grande 2001: 35.8125 lbs
4. Oregon Rio Grande 2005: 35.75 lbs
5. Wisconsin Eastern 2003: 34.5 lbs

Hahaha

I dont know, but cool wet weather is not typical turkey weather but they still seem to grow them, unless these birds came from the Eastern part of the state.

In the liberal western states there may only be 100 or so hunters hunting them; that gives em plenty of time to fatten up!
