The pics are not apples to apples. Bear in mind, this is 6 yards distance. The group with the #1s is on the left, and has a flight control wad. The 00s on the right were fired from a shell with no flight control wad. The wad is what keeps the pattern so tight. You can see where the wad from the non-flight control group hit low and to the right in that target. The range is very close as well. On a 35 yard target, which even they admit is unrealistic inside a house, the #1 grouping is more spread out, but still all on target, and the 00 without the flight control wad only has 4 pellets on the target(meaning 5 went somewhere else).

From this, the main thing I can see is, you need that flight control wad in a home defense round. I do not think it says anything better or worse about the #1 over the 00.

I've heard that alot too Hunter257W, in a lot of places. 7-1/2's that wouldn't penetrate the wall into the next room, but would adequately dispose of any lifeform deemed a threat inside that room and several feet away with an unobstructed aim.

I like the sound of the 2" 12 gauge load the still has 9 00 buck in it. That would allow a couple more rounds in your mag tube.

I was shot in 1979 at point blank with #5 high brass load... I think I would have to disagree... Stick with Buckshot for home defense, it does a better job... Just my 2 cents worth and some 40 odd pellets still in me.
