Does anyone have any opinions about the Taurus Ultralight hammerless vs the smith airweight? I have been wanting to get the Smith for my wife and summer carry and been having trouble finding one. I found a taurus, any pros or cons on the taurus?

My wife's 1st carry gun was the SW Airweight in .38spcl. She now carries a 1911 but the Smith is awesome. Great gun. Light, concealable, and a pretty gun at that.

Why do I carry a gun? Because cops weigh too much to carry and are difficult to conceal.

Thanks for the info. Anybody have any experience with the Taurus for comparison?

Nothing wrong with a Taurus revolver, but its no where near the quality of a S&W. For the minimal price difference between the 2, I would go with the Smith every time. Another plus is there are more aftermarket products for the S&W(holsters, grips, etc) I have a S&W 638 Airweight that has been a great gun over the last 10 years. It shows carry wear, but still shoots great.

I have the S&W 642. Great pocket gun. As Kimberman said the Taurus is no where near the quality of S&W. Never sacrifice quality or reliability when buying a carry gun. Your life is priceless.
