When I was a kid I had it inmy mind that beavers would be good for the eco system from the idea that they would build some killer fish'n holes.

Once they moved in the area I found out otherwise, all they do is make a mess of things, a misquito farm at best, water stays nasty & scummed over.

Just a heads up I think they are illegal to shoot. ;\)

Just kidding ...they are legal year round

I/we kill them year round, with any means possible, my favorite is to burst dam early in morning, find a cougar to ride with me at night[one that like adult beverages], shine beavers with remote controlled spotlight and shoot with .22 hornet, I/we have done so many nights, we have also floated the Hatchie River and spotlighted/killed many beavers the past 40 years

Did you skin any out? I very much would like to skin one out and dry it on a traditional round frame for use in our hunter safety classes. Have seen zero sign of beaver population around here in middle TN or on Yanahli.

When they first came to dad's property, we were a little concerned. We started seeing where they had cut down little saplings and such. It was then that we saw they were cleaning up the entire creek bottoms of those stupid fast growing hedge tree things. So we let them go at it. In just a month or so, they had cleaned the entire creek bottom up of those trees. I don't know where they hauled them to, but they had it looking like a field when they got done, whereas before, it was so thick you couldn't hardly walk through it. THEN they started cutting in on bigger trees...not cutting them all the way down, just cutting into them enough to kill the tree. After they got a few of our big Poplar trees...we decided to do something about 'em. Got one of dads friends...he came down and set traps all along the creek. Caught 6 of them over a period of a few months. Think we got all of em now cause they stopped cutting; they either got caught out or moved on.

If you shoot them in the nose with a .22 they will come out of the water or at least to the surface Makes it hard to hold their breath with a whole in their nose, works everytime!

I have never lost a bever due to sinking after shooting them in the nose..
