So in the past I used to have severe allergy problems every spring and fall and suddenly they went away for several years but it appears to be back in full force. I've had the worst sinus infection for bout a week now. I have heard that if a body takes a spoon full of local honey daily that they will never have allergy problems. Is there any truth to this or just a wives tale? I pretty much dislike the taste of honey so I thought I would ask others opinions first.

A lot of people believe it helps. No harm in trying. I bet beekeeper could hook you up!

I have heard that mixing that spoon full of honey into your favorite distilled tennessee spirits will make it go down easier!

Wives tale (though I am sure some will swear by it).

IMHO - changing your diet by eating better, losing weight, and getting more active are the best ways to improve your allergy symptoms.

I personally found that my allergies were worse when I was 40lbs heavier, and as I have dropped weight, started eating better, and gotten into better shape - my allergy symptoms are reduced to almost nothing at all.

I've got several neighbors with bees so getting the honey ain't a problem. And yes, "mountain spring water" is the only reason I've been able to sleep in three days! I'm supposed to take medicine from spring till fall but I can't find any that doesn't make me nervous and jittery. Plus after bout a month I become immune.

I've tried local honey. My parents use to soak raisins in I think tequila, maybe something else. Tried it when I still lived at home, didn't do much. My next step is to buy eucalypus oil and give it a shot.

It has made mine better than they used to be. If you normally sweeten coffee with sugar, use honey instead.

I agree 100%.. At my best health condition ever (48 yrs old) following a year of P90X my allergy problems, colds, viruses etc were pretty much non-existent. Having gotten away from my intense cardio regiment I can see this stuff creeping back in quickly.

Good plan, and one that I'm trying to incorporate. But it's not always the foolproof answer to everything.

I'm no model of a wholesome and healthy lifestyle, but when I was much younger, I certainly was. Spring and fall were always my "Hay fever Hell" months, and no amount of additional healthy eating or exercise could do anything for it.
