The signing comes despite questions about whether the legislation affects employment law in Tennessee.

Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville and four fellow Republican co-sponsors on Thursday submitted a letter for inclusion into the Senate Journal elaborating on their legislative intent for the measure.

While the letter states the bill does not seek to alter the state's "employment-at-will doctrine," it notes that businesses could run into trouble if they seek to enforce a gun ban on their property.

The legislation was approved 28-5 in the Senate, and 72-22 in the House last month. It's scheduled to take effect July 1.

Understand clearly that your employer may terminate you IF they choose to based on Co rules. It would not be considered an "unlawful" act however nonetheless your company can still cut the cord.

Yep.

TN is still a right to work state...thankfully.

However, right now there is a Berretta A391 Xtrema 3.5 12 Ga propped in the corner of my office looking at me...we firmly believe in the 2nd Amendment here at the saltmine.

Glad they passed it. However, mahy questions will come up from this one.

One that immediately comes to mind; Can a school teacher now have a gun stored in his/her car on school property?

I prefer this slogan I use with my employees:

"One of you better be carrying - I can't cover all the entrances by myself!"

I guess I will have to inquire as to how my company will interpret the law. I want to be allowed protection to and from work but I won't do anything to lose my job.
