Yeah, someone did a write-up of it recently, and it looks good. I wsa going to stop in a couple weeks ago, but work happened. I'm really anxious to try their jalapeno slaw.

I ate at the Gay Hawk the other day -George Ave and Danny Thomas.

Its a soul food buffet, $9.99 for lunch. Pretty darn good. Chicken was fried in Crisco. They also had beef liver and neckbones. The veggies were all really good as was the hot water cornbread, which is rare in Memphis. Peach Cobbler was excellent.
The sweet tea, much like Cozy Corner's is just stupid sweet, though.

Did they change the name? Or the sign?

I drove down that way a month or so ago, and never saw it

BuckWild and I tried this place out today. Its a small shack in the Lowe's parking lot. They have a few pieces of taxidermy on the walls and a cool smoker setup.

I got the BBQ Slaw Dog which was a all beef dog done on the grill with their slaw and BBQ sauce. It as pretty dang tasty. I'd certainly go back for it. The BBQ sauce is more of a KC style with a bit of vinegar and thick with molasses.

BuckWild got the pulled pork sandwich. We both thought that it was too mushy in texture -smoked too long. I like some texture in BBQ (which is one of the reasons I prefer chopped over pulled). I also like to see some bark interspersed throughout. Because of this, BuckWild said it reminded him of canned BBQ. The BBQ sauce in combination with the pork had a good bit of punch, but no follow through.

So, hot dawg= good
BBQ= soso

They feature many deli selections as well: Reubens, meatball subs, etc as well as pizzas, jerked chicken wings and brisket. I'd go back and give one of the deli sandwiches a try. They also serve breakfast from 7 to 11.

I just went for lunch this afternoon. I got a small pork sandwich with "jalapeņo" slaw. The meat was better than most, but not the best. Great flavor, but slightly soft (mealy even?) "Jalapeņo" slaw was really close to Central BBQ's slaw, but with a little kick. I'd give them a solid 7 out of 10.

I tried to go there for lunch today. Missed it the first time. On the 2nd pass I saw it, but was towing an 18 ft trailer and the parking didn't seem adequate, so I passed.

Went to BGR instead. Still think its one of the best burgers in town.

I agree about the BGR. I haven't yet tried that place in Arlington, though.

Been there. Its good, but I'll pick BGR, the Burger there has more of a good, grill flavor. Off the Hoof probably has more choices though.

Lowe's Parking Lot wasn't adequate?

Since I borrowed the trailer, I didn't want to chance someone trying to walk off with it.
