I am taking deposits for freezer beef.

The Black Angus, Angus cross steers will average 1300 lbs at slaughter time. Steers will get a finisher ration at a rate of 4% of body weight per day for 90 days. I use no hormones or steriods and steers are free grazing on good quality pastures. They are watered from my tap. The steers I have raised the past 5 years have average 60% hanging weight. Two weeks ago I took 5 to slaughter and I averaged 61.5% hanging weight.

Deposits are as follows:
whole $200
half $150
quarters are available, but you have to take the standard cut at the butcher because its impossible to custom cut/wrap a quarter as beef are cut in halves.

At the end of November, I will haul the steers to H and R Slaughtering for butchering. The steers will age for 2 weeks, during that time I will contact you and let you know how much the steer weighs, let you know your animal number, and when to pick up.During that time we will also settle up on the money and you will need to call H and R and tell them how you want the beef cut and packaged. If getting a quarter you have 2 options take the standard cut or get a buddy to take the other quarter and get a half cut and packaged the way you want it.

I will also haul a limited number of beef to Nashville free of charge.

Pricing for the fall is $1.40 per lb live weight. H and R charges .26 per lb live weight and a $24 kill fee.

I will also have beef for the Spring if interested.
I hope I didnt leave anything out, but if you have questions, feel free to pm me or call 4232155763. My name is Ben Collins

Is the pricing structure different for for Spring steers? When will they be available? Also, does H&R offer vacuum packing for the beef?

Thanks

Thanks TrailWatcher

I should have specified, the Spring beef is for 2014. The price structure will be the same. H and R does a great job and they do vacuum pack the beef.

I'm in for a half for the fourth year. Bennie has some good beef, a lovely wife and very cute children. Did I mention he sells some good beef?

The processor does a great job. I've always received just what I ordered and they will cut the critter up the way you want. Vacuum packed in heavy plastic, but you can't toss packages around too roughly.

$1300 plus the $24 kill fee for an average steer? I can't tell what the approx price would be for half.

I could be off, but I calculated at 1300 lbs x $1.66 per hoof lb + $24 kill fee comes out to $2182.

60% of 1300 is 780lbs

$2182 / 780 factors out to be $2.80 per lb of meat. I could be a little bit off but sounds like a good deal to me.

1300 is the average. I've had critters from 1300 to 950, and it does make a difference in pounds of meat and freezer space.

Hell, ground 90% chuck will cost twice that. Yes it's a good deal and you know how the critter is raised. All my family tells me this beef tastes better than anything ever purchased in a store. The only problem I have is not knowing the size my beef will be. I tend to hold off shooting deer as I don't know the amount of beef I have to stuff in the freezer.

Now your final cuts may end up with something you don't like. I have my burger 10/90. Very lean. I end up with short ribs that are loaded with fat. What to do? I trim the short rigs and can beef chucks! Problem solved. I can a lot of veggies anyway, and my father-in-law canned beef and it was good. So I snooped around in the Ball canning book and there it was. Now I have canned beef. Very tender, just serve over noodles. Now you cook for 60 minutes and precess in the pressure canner for 90 minutes so it should be tender. Nothing goes to waste in my house. I find a way.

I've got to post more, I've been a 6 point for a record amount of time.

H and R is limited on freezer space and will only let hang for 14-16 days.

Carlos I sent you a pm. A half would cost approximately $1,000 after paying me and the processor.

no website for H and R
But they can cut the beef anyway you want it....

Ground beef 1 lb packages up to as many lbs per pack as you want.
They will cut your filets, ribeyes, ny strip, sirloin, tbones to whatever desired thickness you like.
Roasts can be as big or as small as you like.
phone number for H and R Slaughtering is 931 484 1154 if you want more information and feel free to ask them about what kind of beef I take to them for processing

This is a good deal ! Wish I was closer as my locker beef producer has quit \:\(
IMO seems a little cheap honestly so I wouldn't hesitate according to an internet search with "select" 600-900 lb steer at $1.82/lb
http://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/nw_ls410.txt

Processor here is .32/lb live with a $30 kill fee to give a comparison.

Ditto on what everyone else has said -- been buying from Benny for four years now and he's a class act. By far the best beef I've ever eaten. Can't even order a steak at a nice restaurant anymore because it's nowhere near as good at what I've got at home. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
