Seems to me that the punishment faced by thieves these days pretty much is so small they don't worry about the consequences. Maybe lose a hand or a few licks with a cane pole with jail time will change a few little worthless mofo's mentality.

many thieves check the obits and hit while the family is at the funeral. we always tried to get a house sitter for that reason.

They took two specific guns, (44 mag), and left all the others? That's strange!

After yesterday, we are pretty certain of who it is. He called my daughter and threw out a few observations of seeing a car in front of our house and someone walking down the street and then apologized. To our knowledge, he does not know about the break-in but would have seen the patrol car in front of our house.

Now, if we can only get a detective assigned to the case and go down and question him and hopefully have a look around the house.

With the way my gun cabinet was arranged, it is not surprising that those would be the first weapons taken out. I am glad I had gone through it a couple of months ago and moved my grandfathers M1 Carbine to the other side or otherwise it would be gone. I figure the Marlin 1894 was taken due to its compact size compared to the other weapons.
