Spent 6 years in the Navy and it was some of the best times of my life. He'll be fine and do a little growing up at the same time.

good luck to him, my daughter joined the Navy a year ago, she is in Washington at this moment but moving back to SD Ca. later.
I know the feeling you have, and know its ruff, back him and let him know how proud you are, I know when I went to boot camp graduation in Chicago I felt even more proud.
