Anyone here or know anyone that collects? I've got a collection that I'd like to have looked at for possible sale.

I got lucky on that. My grandparents were diehard baseball fans so my mom knew not to get rid of them. I've got the cards and 2 Yankee team autographed balls from the Mantle years. My grandfather and Phil Rizzuto were good friends, and got them signed for him. The autographs ill keep, but the cards are just taking up space now.

I've got 2 large plastic totes full of cards and a small plastic tote full of Chipper Jones cards.. I suppose I'll continue to hold onto them and see what happens with the price of them..

Majority of cards have decreased in value with the exception of the very old cards. Have a 20 yr collection and the market is not as big or as popular as it use to be.

Yeah, when Topps and Donruss and all the others started mass producing "collectible" cards, it made them great money for a long time, but killed the overall market. The reason that cards were so valuable in the first place is that they were made as throw-aways for kids, who put them on bike spokes for the awesome sound, tossed them into toyboxes and dressers. The ones that survived, then, were rare. THAT is what made them collectible.
Not sure how to find the market these days, but would love to hear if you find it, and how you do with it all.

Condition of the card is everything now days. There are a few different companies you can send your cards to to have them graded.
A card that we would have called "mint" 20 years ago might be a 9.2 or 9.5 now.. neither of which is worth as much as a 10.0. It's pretty ridiculous.

Should've sold all I had about 25 years ago. I've got cards from '73 to '91. They include a Staubach rookie, 2nd yr Nolan Ryan, etc... Shoulda, coulda, didn't.

I am in the same boat, but with my old comic books. I'm having my collection appraised to sell it now. About 10 years ago when I took it out of my parents house, it was worth about $50,000, but now the people looking at it are saying its dropped to about $18,000 and if I sell it as a whole to expect about 30% of that.

When I moved from my parent's house all those years ago, one of the things I took with me was my card collection. Mine are all Topps from 1957 to around 1965. There is still a faint smell of bubblegum on some of them.
