I have a ruger m77 in .308, I only have 21 MOA of Up adjustment on my scope. I need 26 MOA to shoot 825 yards, which is the longest shot at our range. Can I shim the back of the scope and get 5 MOA? I don't have $200+ to spend on a 20 MOA mount for this gun or to change the scope.

you can get Weaver style bases for the M77 and use the Burris Signature Zee rings and get all the extra adjustments you want..
