I don't have patience for nymphs or dries. I use streamers, usually Woolly Buggers or Zoo Cougars. Best colors for me are white or olive. If they are generating, I use a Teeny T-200 sinking line with a 8.5 ft 6 or 7 wt rod. Short leader: 24" of 20 lb Vanish and 24" of 10 # Vanish.

If they aren't generating I use a 5 wt sink tip (10 foot sinking) type 6. Same leader, but I downsize the flies a bit. I caught most of these on a white Size 8.

Beautiful fish! 6 or 7 wt, wow! That's heavy for me where I fish, I'm getting ready to break in a 3wt, lol.

That brown is awesome looking!!! Im also a big fan of wooly buggers , especially this time of year. Nymphs should be producing pretty good soon too though.

The weight is for the size of the flies and line, not the size of the fish. I use a 4 wt for nymphs and small dries, but there's no way I could use a 4 wt with heavy sinking lines and 4" streamers.

Those pictures make me want to go fishing bad. High waters have been keeping me from going so far this year. Sounds like your fly box is like mine full of wooly buggers and streamers. I do like nymph fishing though mostly with pheasant tails and midges. I like to keep it simple and it seems to work for me.
