The Liberty, Enterprise, and Wolf River are great disease resistant strains. I just put in 4 Limbertwigs. An OLD strain from the late 1700's that supposedly are resistant. One variety of these Limbertwigs doesn't ripen until NOVEMBER which should hopefully pre-marinade my venison! HA....
Try this grower. I have talked to him via phone, and email. Super plants that he shipped with great info. on planting, care, and deer proofing.

I planted Kieffer, Moonglow and Ayers pear on my property so far. I would like to get some asian varieties as well. As far as apples, I hear Arkansas black is a good variety for our area. I plan on getting a few this year.
You may want to try some grafted persimmon as well. Fuyu is a non astringent variety that produces alot of large fruit. The deer ate all mine off my small tree this year while they were still green.

Did you get your trees planted? Either way, just wanted to say that I bought the Complete Fruit Tree Package from The Wildlife Group 2 years ago and am well pleased with how the trees have grown. The package contained only 15 trees when I got it but now they give you have 24. Of course the price has gone up but if you plant all these, you've got a solid setup. Here it is if you want to look at what you get. http://www.wildlifegroup.com/uploads/catalog/Wildlife_Group_2012-2013_Catalog.pdf#page=5
One big reason I chose this particular package was that the species were chosen by people who know trees and they picked varieties that will drop fruit over a long period of time that covers all of deer season and a bit beyond.

I have not. Work sent me to Colorado for a bit. Was gonna try to do that this weekend but still can't. Hopefully soon! Thanks for the link. I will look into that.

I had an Alberta Peach tree that the deer loved, Crabapple are another favorite as well as the Arkansas black.
